Is it worth it? 4.6 mufflers on 4.4???

Just as the title reads, is it worth it to buy 4.6 mufflers to put on my 4.4? The price for the mufflers is $400. Should I pass or play? Please help me! I love the exhaust tips and would like a little bit of a louder deeper growl. Just don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
The muffler themselves won't add the deeper growl, but they do give the awesome tips. Maybe throw on an x-pipe in place of the center resonator for the added growl. (many videos/sound clips floating around here and youtube)

If the mufflers don't make the sound better, then I would pass. I actually prefer the quad tips on the 4.4 over the oval tips of the "is" models. Looks more classic, imo.

The 4.6 mufflers were just on sale/sold in the classifieds and the seller claims they change the note.

I have a 4.6 and would say it's not worth $400...and I have an X pipe. It's barely audible from inside but sounds ok on the outside. Not as deep as my old E39 M5 with Magnaflows.

I have a facelift 4.4 with 4.8is mufflers & tips. Sound is deeper than 4.4, but not exactly as deep as a 4.8.

I don't think I'd pay $400 for that... I'd rather pay $400 for a custom setup at a shop.

I'd do it for $300 and replace the resonators with an x-pipe to achieve your deep growl exhaust note...

I just took off my 4.4i exhaust for 4.6is. earlier this week, I really like the look, there isn't a growl or anything. But It appears the piping is 2.5" vs 2.25" so maybe its exhaling a bit better, so maybe my truck is running a bit more efficient, on highways it seems to go a bit faster....but I love the chrome oval tip better personally vs the stainless steel quads. for $300 Its a good price, but its not an easy swap by any means, if you do it yourself, maybe 2 hrs, or pay shop $80-$100 to swap it out.
