Difficult on start up...weird behavior

My 2000 4.4 some times gets very difficult to star up. Batery has lots of power and the engine cranks alot, but it doesnīt start for 30 or 40 seconds. Many times it starts without any problem, while other takes some patient till the engine fires up. It seems itīs not getting gas into the engine, so Iīm thinking it must be the gas pump!! Only once the engine dies while I was driving. I thought it could be bad gas, fill it up in another gas station but it remains the same.
What you exoerts have to say about this? Thanks in advance.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Could also be a bad cam or crank sensor, are there any faults stored?

No fault codes. For the last two months it went away, now itīs hapening again. It cranks forever, sometimes I try 10 times before it starts. Normaly it starts better in the morning while cold, but even so, there are many days than even in the morning itīs difficult to crank.
I have change the plugs, air filter, gas pump and gas filter..still the same. After running perfectly normal, It had stall on me maybe four times while running maybe one or two minutes after start, never more than two minutes after. I also used the second key(which canīt open/close the doors) and it turn on three times, one after another in a row. Just when I thought I have nail it, it crnked again without no star Try the other key and it wouldnīt start again. Tomorrow morning I will try again with the second key and see what happens. Any help!!!

Made a search and came across this AMAZING thread. Seems the ingnition switch to be the cause. Will order one and see the result.

I'm having the same problem. It happened after my alternator failed and I changed everything, including the filter and pump. I went aftermarket for the filter and pump. I think it I might have to go OEM and put the original pump back in. I have an indy change the inginition switch already. I think it might be a sh?*&y regulator. Help!!

Regulator is built into the alternator so that should be new, no?
