New 2002 X5 owner - Some Questions

I just purchased a 2002 X5 4.4i
I bought it for a good deal but I knew it had some issues that I can fix but a few I want to get your opinion on.

1. Need brakes and pads - Ok with that as I am mechanically inclined
2. Rear trunk button does not work - Have power to the switch?
3. Drivers door handle - understand you replace the mechanism - Yes or No?
4. Whirring noise up front - Wheel bearings?
5. Codes come up - Secondary air Injection system bank 1
- Secondary air Injection system bank 2
- What needs to be done here or replaced?
6. Left front inner tie rod end. Ok with that.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Vacuum leak?
3. Drivers door handle - understand you replace the mechanism - Yes or No?
It calls Door Carrier and it's relatively easy to replace.

Take off your engine cover and look in the rear of the eng. for two hoses that come apart....typical problem on the 4.4's, could be your problem with those codes.

Could you specify which hoses from the diagram?

yea, it's hose 4 and 5, those two hoses turn into gummy bear consistency, they fall apart and they create weird codes....easy to find once u take off engine cover. Push then with your finger and see if they are very soft.

for ur door carrier if ur door can only open from the inside & not the outside thn yes you have to change it, it happened to me before and it wasnt hard to fix it, beside taking the door panel off. here is 1 of the DIY :http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...andle-fix.html

Checked hoses and all appears good. No splits or very soft. Thanks.

Update.
I watched a video on U-tube and these codes came up and they had to replace the blower under the air filter box. Still looking into it.

- drivers door issue is the carrier- took it out last night and broken hinge - white metal. That was fun getting it out - Not. Can't wait to find out how much this is in Canada.

- rear door - fixed the button and still not working. Previous bench tested the servo and worked now not working. Again can't wait to find out how much this is in Canada

- Had a buddy come over and check my wheel bearings. Said they are nice and tight and don't seem to have a problem. He indicated maybe the brakes were making the noise as I am replacing them. Pads and rotors and a tierod end on the drivers side.

- First car I have put hours of work into and don't seem to be getting anywhere. My first BMW so I am learning alot.

Thanks for all the help and will keep you informed.

Door handle in. Working great. Part was 116.00
Waiting for actuator to come in 145.00

Now I found a vacuum line off under the cover and re connected it. Didn't eliminate my engine light on and still have the same codes.
Secondary air Injection system bank 1
Secondary air Injection system bank 2
I checked with the dealer for the air pump - $550
and for the diverter valve $150

I don't want to just through parts at it.

Can some confirm these codes is related to the airpump or diverter valve
