Yokohama Advan tire life?

Apparently mine are down to the wear bars after 15k miles. Are these tires notorious for quick wear or was this a fluke?

That's approximately how much I got on my rear set. I went through 2 rear sets before replacing the fronts.

Remember that they are summer performance tires (on heavy vehicle too). IMO I don't think they were designed to last much more anyways.

I'm trying a set of Vreds now. I have a feeling these will last the same, if not less. I believe these tires are a softer compound than the Advans. We'll see.

I have around 18K or so on a set, and they look pretty good. I expect to get another 5K or so out of them.

I don't think its the tires that are notorious.

I think its the nature of the beast!

I consider myself an aggressive driver but IMO not excessively so. If you can resist the temptation to basically NEVER accelerate quickly from a stop then YES - you can get more from any tire (summer included).

However IMHO, I don't think you're gonna get much more from any summer tire you buy driving the X "normal" (especially the 4.6/4.8).
