Has anyone installed angel eyes on a 2002 X5 with a production date 09/02. I would like to try these new angel eyes, but dont want to buy them if I cant break the seal on my lights.

I believe the headlight problem only pertains to 03 models. So if your's is an 02 it would still have the old style headlights but maybe we can confirm through some part numbers?

Here is some information I pulled off of RealOEM. I looked up your build date and found that they list two headlights for your car, one that was installed for up through 9/02 cars and then coming with 10/2003, they list a new headlight:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...92&hg=63&fg=05
01 HEADLIGHT XENON, LEFT 1 09/2002 63126913481
01 HEADLIGHT XENON, LEFT 1 10/2003 63126930233 $413.00
01 HEADLIGHT XENON, RIGHT 1 09/2002 63126913482
01 HEADLIGHT XENON, RIGHT 1 10/2003 63126930234 $413.00

10/2003 is the headlight for the 04 body style. It has been noted that 2003 headlights use a different sealant that can not be opened. Since mine is very close to being a MY2003, it may have the newer headlights..

Pep - I'm considering the predator chromium kit but have been a little apprehensive about baking and breaking open and the lights. Mine is 07/02. Not sure how the rings attach to the bulbs either. 3M tape does not sound like a durable solution, if that is what they use. Let me know what you decide to go with.

I do not advise anyone who doesnt no what they are doing to open up these headlights, EVEN with detailed instructions.

I can not tell you how many times we have gotten requests from people to "fix" the headlights that they attempted to open up, its not easy, and re-sealing is even more of an art.

We can install the Angel Eyes correctly, no condensation, no 3M tape, etc..

Dave

The 3M tape solution has worked VERY well on 04 coupes which install very similarly to X5's. I have not seen one instance of an 04 coupe ring falling off. If you wish, you can use a couple dabs of high heat epoxy to really secure them on there.

In addition, the baking is really not that difficult. Our baking guide details this process. If you are apprehensive, we have a list of capable installers on our website under Installation Resources. You could also send your headlights in for an extra charge.
