E53 Exterior Temp sensor location help !

Hi-

I've done a fair bit of searching both under my 2006 X5 3.0d and online regarding the location of the exterior temperature sensor but cannot find it.

Can anyone tell me the location?

I just got back from a garage where I had the glow plugs replaced and a full service - and it seems to be acting up.

Its not throwing mad readings, but I know the reading is off !

I have a feeling it is sitting somewhere it shouldn't be an needs to be re-seated.

Thanks

Not too sure about BMW but vauxhall put it in the front bumper. Worth a check.

Thanks - I think I can see it behind the front grill - right hand side - its been cold here minus 4 celsius) the last few days.

I wonder if its just having a bad day or if its on the way out, coincidentally and not related to anything that might have been done during the service.

Can't see why they would have been in and around that area - but maybe the wire leads back up to an area that they were working ?? And the cable got knocked or damaged??

Seems odd that it only started giving bad readings since I've got it back !

Anyone any thoughts?

It was up at +25 celsius (there is snow on the ground!) so I shut off the ignition and re-started it.

The temp then fell from +25 to a more realistic +1c ...then dropped to 0c

We were out so I drove home and it remained stable for the journey home, but then once I parked up, it started to climb again...only to +4c but I know this is a bad reading.

It seems to be fluctuating a couple of degrees rather than being way off...so maybe this is a sign of a loose connection, rather than faulty sensor?

It could be a bad connection try unplugging it and then reconnecting. Sounds like a faulty sensor to me tho'

Just had a look at the TIS - It says it is located in the air duct of left brake !

Now I'm confused !

I'm searching the TIS using the VIN of my car ! So whats that sensor up the front bumper behind the grill to the right as I'm looking at the car ....
