Check Control Headlights, but Headlights fine; Power folding mirrors

Hey guys. I've been absolutely loving my E53 for the almost-two months that I've owned it so far. You guys have helped me work out all the little kinks so far, and I've discovered 2 more lately so hopefully you guys can help me out with these as well...

Just yesterday I washed my vehicle (it's about -5C here) and a few minutes after the the headlights lit up on my little "Indicator for Check Control" thing on my dash under the spedometer. I found this strange because all of my lights are working perfectly fine, and I haven't changed anything. Is it possible that some water froze on some kind of sensor on the headlights which is making it come up with this false positive? I've washed the X several times already with temperatures much colder than this and haven't had a problem. I checked all the fuses that I thought might apply (maybe that was pointless), but they're all fine.

Also, I just realized that I have power folding mirrors. BUT when I press the little button to fold them in, they partially fold in and then right back out again. What could be causing this? Also, it may be related, but I understand that the passenger side mirror is supposed to tilt down when the vehicle is put into reverse to help backing up. Instead of doing this however, the mirror goes up and down repeatedly until I take it out of reverse. (When I have the adjustment selector set to adjust the passenger side mirror it doesn't move at all when I'm in reverse however)

Any help with this stuff would be really appreciated guys, thanks alot in advance.

Alex

Hi,

there is no sensor in your headlights. The computer is measuring the electrical power which is used by your lights. If they are fine and you still have an error ......... ????

For the mirrors please use the search function of the board. There is plenty of information about that.

Take care

Nevermind I found the threads about the mirrors, thanks alot. I just unplugged my battery and I'm gonna let it sit for half an hour. Hopefully that'll just reset my headlight check control light... :-)

Hmmm I plugged the battery back in and started the X, and the exact same thing. It's so weird that it's giving me this error but there's nothing wrong with any of the lights... Anyone else have any ideas?
