Transtar

Well ive been searching for a transmission filter and oil for my 2002 bmw x5 4.6is and I stumbled across this distributors website called Transtar industries, I called them and I spoke to a representative. I learned alot from this one phone call about my transmission. I thought I had a GM transmission but I found out I have a ZF tranny and I asked him about getting a filtran filter and he told me not use that filter because of the type of tranny Ive got, he recommended I use a better filter that they carry i forgot what its called but then I asked him about the oil and he said to use the ZF transmission oil and they also carry that. I asked him if I could use any other oil thats compatible to the ZF oil and he said such as Royal Purple and he said you can but you have to use an additive that they carry that will make it more similar to the ZF oil.. I forgot what the addtive was called something like lube?? But he then told me that they do not usually sell to individuals but they do on will call. The filter cost $41.25 and the ZF oil cost $16.95 per quart, he said i need six of them... He knew alot about bmws and their transmissions and how independent shops use cheap filters to keep the customers coming back... He said the ZF tranny is real sensitive to what type of filters it uses and the type of oil. I think I will go with the filter he recommends and the ZF oil.
