Could ABS DSC Brake lamps in IC be caused by bad wheel alignment?
Hi,
ABS DSC comes on after driving about two miles.I have tested all ABS sensors and they seem okay. I hav had the fault codes read at the dealer and it showed: 0001 LRA 0090 IKE 005A DSC (believe this is loss of power to steering angle sensor) 00BD IKE IHKA: AUC sensor 0029: DSC (steering angle plausibility) Lights comes on after driving a couple of miles. If I turn car off, and then back on again after 30 seconds, lights are not lit. Before lights comes up ABS is working when I test on ice. However, 4wd does not work. If battery is disconnected and reconnected 4wd will work also until lights come on first start. After that 4wd will not work again. The wheel alignement is off for sure, and my steering wheel is offset meaning when I drive straight forward the steering wheel points to 2 oclock. Can this cause the lamps to light up in the IC? And also inactivate 4wd? |

Yes, the steering angle plausibility is the one that can be caused by alignment. If the steering wheel position changes in relation to the wheel alignment the DSC computer see's the wheel turned but vehicle traveling straight and it throws a plausibility fault.
You just need to get the steering angle sensor recalibrated by means of GT1 equipped shop or dealer. If the dealer did the alignment you can most likely get them to do the calibration for you free.

Thanks! I haven't had the alignment done yet but it is going in to the dealer on tuesday. They will probably do steering angle calibration as part of the process. And check fault codes to try to solve my problem.
Initially they wanted to replace ABS module... $$$$$ I'm hoping to get away with wheel alignment and steering angle sensor calibration. |

So... good news and bad news. Mostly bad. The dealer agrees that it is likely that my ABS DSC and Brake light + lack of 4wd is due to steering angle sensor and that a wheel alignment should solve the problem. However, they said a list of things had to be done first... I don't even know what it's all called in english but it was all bushings in the rear + caster front ++
I just had the car for inspection a week ago at an indy and it passed with 0 faults... I realize I'm not going to get a perfect result if parts need to be replaced but they should be able to align the wheels so that my abs dsc and so on works. Right? I was trying to ask them to at least do the front wheels but nope, had to do all four. Of and the best part: they priced it to $4500. Yeah that's right fourthousandfivehundred dollars.... That blows. It's about zero degrees F her now and snow.... Anyway, called an indy and have an appointment on thursday. They said they have software to calibrate steering angle sensor so I hope this will solve it. It's gonna cost about $350. |

Fixed
Took it to an indy but they were not able to communicate with the car and calibrate wheel angle sensor so they didn'tperform a wheel alignment at all. I was going on a trip with my family for new year weekend to a ski resort up in the mountains and was desperate, so i did a wheel alignment my self. Adjusted toe and sentered the wheels so that steering wheel was correct when driving straight. This fixed all my electrical problems with dsc abs bakes and awd. A couple of days before I left i did got the dreaded oil separator problem and blew my valve cover gasket. I spen a good 12 hours on the car the day before we ledt for the mountains. But got it taken care of at least. Wonder whats next. Man it was hard to get to the oil separator. What a place to put it!!! I'm so happy to be a member of this forum. It has saved me alot of time and $$$$.

If you knocked out the oil separator and measuring tape alignment yourself in the driveway you are going to be able to do almost anything to the X yourself with the info on this forum.
