I wouldn't touch that. If you don't want to buy a new one, better try the scrape yard.
On the other hand, it is so cheap that you can actually buy it just to see if it works

what about the one posted as: OEM/BOSCH for $170.94 is it the same as the stealer one requested: $429 for? Is it worth to take a try?

I can only tell for the 3.0d, it is the most common in here. The OEM one that is fitted on the X and the one you can order at the dealership, they are both Bosch.
I have no clue, do they offer any warranty for it? However, if the part number matches, it sure must be the same you order at the dealership. |

Appreciated your quick response chas3!
However this is like pushing people away from the (stealer) because if you compare the (website prices) with the (stealer prices), they're totally different, But parts usually match the same way. However, most sites sells their parts under different part # but you obviously getting the same part as BMW stealer. I wish you could take a look at: (Air mass meter) 01 BMW X5 they have for both: X5 3.0/X5 4.4i and stated OEM for them under different #. Bosch Air Mass Meter Retail Price: $416.43 Your Price: $170.94 Quantity: Part Number: W0133-1599408 Availability: In Stock Condition: New OEM This Product Fits the Following: Catalog: Replacement 1 Vehicle: 2001 BMW X5 4.4i VDO Air Mass Meter Retail Price: $416.43 Your Price: $225.94 Quantity: Part Number: W0133-1663166 Availability: In Stock Condition: New OEM This Product Fits the Following: Catalog: Replacement 1 Vehicle: 2001 BMW X5 3.0i could they be stated as OEM but not??? |

Well.. by not providing the BMW PN, you can't really tell how it will match while replacing the OEM MAF you have right now on your car. There are various parts produced by both VDO and Bosch, so both examples could be a perfect replacement for the OEM MAF. The photos on that website depict correct MAFs for both the 3.0i and the 4.4i. However, I never had any past experience with that website, so I cannot advice you about their products. In here, I would rather go for the scrapeyard for an OEM one instead.

I got you chas 3 and happy that you saw them for yourself because they're really depict photos of exactly the same (Air mass meter) for this type car's model. I will probably have to speak with them on the phone just to ensure the quality of the actual (Mass air flow sensor stated as OEM.
Unless there are 2 different OEM PARTS. And as far for the website, you would be excited to order from them because they're very fast when it comes to the shipping process. (placing order today before 3pm, and delivered 2morrow). They have 2nd day delivery on every order that you placed and $7.50 shipping charge for whatever package you have. However I've been happy all the time with them in the last 9 months. Otherwise I'm seeking to see if I could get my new maf sensor from them with these ignoring codes: P1158/P1160 |

I guess they also have a return policy and warranty, if they are that serious. Do you also have the INPA report for those errors?

Yea chas3, my trouble codes are: P1158/P1160 which is fuel trim additive Bank1/2 low. Just wish my scanner would tell me or pointed exactly what's wrong. Otherwise here's what stated on their return policy: What happens if I refuse my order?
If you refuse your order for any reason other than damage, a 15% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund. To ensure you receive proper credit, we must be informed of all refusals within 24 hours. If you do not contact us within 24 hours to inform us that you refused your order, your refund could take up to 6 weeks to process. What if my part fails? What type of warranty does my part have? Most of our parts come with a one year warranty excluding wear and tear items. Depending on the type of product you purchased, you may have an extended warranty (e.g., converters 5 yrs/50k). Please also refer to the manufacturer information that was included with your product for additional information. If your part fails we will issue you an RMA number to return the product. Faulty parts and improperly installed parts return decisions are left up to the particular manufacturers’ rules and regulations. We process the return for you by accepting the part and then forward the part directly to the manufacturer for final approval. Installation of auto parts should be handled by a Certified Automotive Technician, and you should maintain a copy of the repair order after the repair is completed for your records. Especially, with items such as ECM's, A/C Compressors, Receiver Dryers, etc. where misdiagnosis and/or installation can easily damage a part. Remember, that having a certified technician install a part does not necessarily mean it was properly installed, but it will eliminate more of the common errors. On occasion, we may ask for the original repair order and other documentation regarding the repair to be sent to us in order to process the return. If your part is found to be defective you will receive a full refund. All replacement items must be re-purchased. We do not send out free replacements. |
