I am trying to decide the same. I found out the Dynavin does not require you to cut the radio frame, but does not transfer the Iphone contact list and does not have a U.S. TV tuner avaiable.

And I thought I decided on the Dynavin untill I heard it won't show the Iphone contact list............

If you contact Dyavin directly they refer you to the US contact : Jeff Bechtel <[email protected]> He sells them for $699. shipped from CA.

Can you please elaborate on cutting the radio frame? I think I can live with no iPhone contact list.

Thanks,
M.

When you take out the radio and the cd player there are 2 seperate plastic "slots". What I am told is with the H you have to cut open the 2 slots and the D will fit into the 2 seperate slots. Also found out the D won't transefer the iPhone phone book. And that either don't have a working TV tuner for US - not that I wanna watch TV, but it would have been cool. The iPhone phone contact might kill the whole deal for me. I don't want to dial 10 digits for those frequent numbers. The H's screen is bigger, so it seems to be a toss up beteen size and cut.

You are looking at it the wrong way. D & H are just some headunits with an already made dashboard mask. While this is convenient, the quality of the headunit is terrible. Also, let's get real, they are only halfway through the OEM look. If you want to get a good result, order a 2DIN mask and install a quality headunit (Pioneer/Alpine/whatever).

chas, elerabate a little, give us model #'s, remember you are talking to those that dont have factory navagation and don't want to spend a bundle installing into old cars. Does Pioneer/Alpine make plug and play units that would give us navagation??
thanks

Kevin, Alpine and Pioneer both make great units, but then you'll also need a $200 bezel...not to mention probably paying more for those decks themselves vs the units were discussing here. I've gone an AVIC in my X, but w/ everything I've spent on it in the end, one of the Dynavin, Hauligan, etc units will be cheaper and seem to do just as good, if not better.

I would get rid of that darn iPone man, it would work with a real phone not so locked down like that toy.

Once you get yourself a 2DIN mask, you can then use absolutely any 2DIN unit, no need for me to specify a brand/model. Also, it very much depends on your needs (GPS/BT/DVD/Sirius/Internet/etc etc) and money you would like to throw at it.

It does not matter in any way if you already have factory navigation. Neither for D/H, nor for other aftermarket brands.

There are 2 things you should consider:
-If the X is that old in your eyes and not worthy the upgrade, you'd better forget about D/H too, they are not exactly cheap either.
-The is a saying something like "I am too poor to buy bad and cheap things". D/H are half measures - just because they come with the built in mask and they are slightly cheaper, people are so hooked on them. You might regret that half measure.
In the end, you know your budget and the decision is yours.

Like I said, you only have to get a 2DIN mask to fit them.
