newbie GT1 question

ok, so I took a leap of faith, bought the gt1 system,
ran it on the computer, perfectly, tried both connections: OBD, and 20-pin connector, they both seem to get a signal out to the computer.
..of course I did not get any instructions whatsoever, and I've been trying to get as much info as possible before messing with it.
now, if I only want to run DIS, should I use the OBD connection?
and for programming the 20 pin??? please advise,
Thanks!!

if you have a e53 with the round pin under the hood you have to use that for everything. the obd under the dash wont work with the GT1 but make sure the door is closed for it.
