:: ECS Tuning :: xDrive ~ X5 ~ OEM BMW Transfer Case Fluid ~ Now Available!!!

Have you replaced yours with in the last 60k? If not its a good idea. You won't not know it's bad till it's too late! It's always better to catch a potential problem in the garage than on the road!

This is the specific fluid that is used in the X5 models using BMWs xDrive all wheel drive system. Labeled as BMW as "Non-Lifetime" fluid.

Home Page > ES#197388 Transfer Case Fluid - 1 Liter - 83220397244 - Used in models produced after 10/2003 production date

Home Page > ES#251177 Dexron ATF (D4) - 1 Quart - 8352230504 - Used in models produced up to 10/2003 production date

As always please let me know if you have any questions! Feel free to shoot me a PM or email.

Cheers,
Joe

Thanks for the reply! You will need just under 1 quart. So 1 bottle will be enough for your application! But if you looking to do your diffs at the same time you would want 4 total.

Feel free to shoot me a PM and I can create a custom cart just for your application!

Cheers,
Joe

Why would you use trans fluid in the diffs? 75w-90 is the spec fluid, no?

I'm sorry I miss spoke... What I meant was while your doing the Transfer Case, you might as well do the diffs. I'm sorry about that the differ fluid needed can be found here:

BMW E53 X5 M54 3.0L > Drivetrain > Differential

Sorry about the confusion guys! Thanks for pointing that out!

Cheers,
Joe

Super! Makes a whole lot more sense now! Thanks for clearing that up for me. However, I thought that the rear diff took 1.2 qts and the front 0.8qts for a total of 2 qts. If you are selling three quarts because no one can get the last drop of diff fluid out of their fluid pump, etc., that makes sense too.

if the service is due, it will set a fault in the VTG control unit, for oil wear too high you will not be able to clear the fault until you perform the service function with a BMW tool.

Other than the fault being thrown, will it affect driveability, etc.?
