02 X5 stall in reverse when cold! Help $1,500 and still not fixed??????

OK I have a 2002 X5 with 142,000 miles on it

My symptons are when I first start it up after its in the garage when I put the truck in reverse it acts like it wants to stall and sometimes does.

The idle goes down and it shakes if I put it in neutral its fine

I have replaced the following so far.

DME
Air temp sensor
Oil crankcase
hoses
idle control mod
O2 sensors
Power steering hoses

It runs fine once it warms up and you only see the issue when I put the truck in reverse?

I cannot afford any more guesses at this point please help!!!!!!

Gt1 diagnosis. Could either be MAF sensor or cam sensors. The gt1 could diagnose for u

Cold

Would the MAF or Cam sensors only cause it to happen when it's cold?

Possibly. The gt1 is the old software from BMW which allows u to diagnose your x. An independent mechanic who specializes in European cars would have it

My Guess is also MAF, But guess is no good enough... when in cold remove MAF and check if the bad idle continious. SES might come on. but then plug it back in. My mechanic told me that before.

I would have pointed the finger at MAF sensor also. OBDII check are normally poor at diagnosing MAF sensor problems until the sensor is completely buggered. If you can find somebody who has a scantool where live readings can be had then you can check out the MAF sensor before buying one.
