Power Shield Extended Warranty.
Does anybody use Power Shield Ext Warranty? I am in Canada and would like to hear any opinion. 5 years plan for my X would be $2184 CAD with $0 deductible. Here's what's covered : https://www.carwarranty.com/canada/whats_covered.asp But what really bugs me is the requirement to change the oil and filter every 4 month or 6000 kms which is No Way I get 6000kms in 4 month.

I haven't used them, but I have dealt with Warranty Direct, many years ago. They appear to be a low cost subsidiary of Warranty Direct, according to their web page.
Too many exclusions in my opinion. The engine parts that are covered are "lubricated internal engine parts". That is why they have the ridiculous oil change requirement. The trouble is, pistons, rings and crankshafts are very uncommon failures. They don't cover any of your fuel system, ignition system, engine or vehicle electronics, suspension system, or steering system. They do cover transmission electronics, but that is a lot of coin for just that coverage. How about Warranty Direct, do they offer something with fewer exclusions? Also, I wouldn't go for a zero deductible, a reasonable deductible is fine, and you are paying a hefty premium most of the time because they know they are going to get nuisance claims with no deductible.

Quote:
Well I was redirected from Warranty Direct due my X's age anything older than 2002 goes to this Shield option.Mine's got 21x.xxx kmsHere's the the quote : 5 Years / 160,000 Kilometres $ 2,184 ( $0 ded.) $ 1,976( $100 ded.) Engine was swapped with the fresher, tranny already rebuilt and I am planning to keep it longer,so I am a bit concerned and wouldn't like to pay for engine or tranny related stuff out of my pocket(already did, didn't like it) Yes,it doesn't cover that much. Oil changes alone would cost $ 360/year if done by the dealer. But they state in the contract that I have to follow manufacturers requirements for the maintenance. Also, the timing belt I guess isn't the timing chain So I would need to give them a call to get some more info.

The timing chain is covered by the clause about lubricated internal engine parts. They listed generic timing belts separately since those aren't lubricated.
A lot of money for basic engine and transmission coverage. Only you can decide if it is worth it, but I would be thinking self-insurance, myself. Take the $2000 and put it aside for future repairs. You say that your engine was already changed? And the transmission was already rebuilt? You likely aren't getting any reduction in the premium for those repairs, so I would say you won't come out ahead on this. Don't rely on the clause about manufacturer's service recommendations taking precendence over the four month oil change requirement. They will require you to change your oil every four months and can use that to not pay out. See if they will remove that clause if you want to go ahead with it.
