Intermittent No Start Issues

I have intermittent no-start issues. It has gotten progressively worse over the last year. Instead of 49 out of 50 starts now I am getting 1 in 10. After it starts....it no longer restarts immediately. I have to wait until the moon/start are in sync before it starts again.

The dealer apparently misdiagnosed this as leaking fuel injector(s), which have since been replaced (not by the dealer). The issue continues.

Things I have not done the following: (but have seen suggestions to do so)
- replace fuel filter
- replace ambient air sensor (but dash display seems accurate)
- replace idle air circuit sensor and/or motor
- replace fuel pump relay

I hate to just throw parts at this...but my confidence is very low with my dealer, not just because of this, but for several other similar issues.

Any advice is much appreciated.

We may be having some of the same problems. I have a 2002 with the 3.0l. On some occassions it will fire right up and on others I have to give it some gas to crank. If i give it enough, she will fire right up and idle just fine. Idle has not been a problem! The only trouble has been what seems to be lack of fuel at start up.

I can say this about the fuel relay. If that is the culprit, it will get worse as the weather warms up maybe to the point that it the car goes dead while driving. I had this experience with a Volvo once. Once the relay overheats it shuts down the flow of fuel and car starves of fuel. The cooler the weather the harder it is to overheat. If that sounds like your symptoms, then change the relay first. If you have any suggestion for my symptoms I appreciate the help. Good luck.

thanks,
