And she drives like new!!!
All right so a few months back, I noticed a shimmy when I hit the brakes doing 60 mph. As time went, it got worse and worse to the point the steering wheel was no longer straight, violent shaking at 30mph and the X was about to explode.
So then it was time to replace the bushings. Replaced the Tension arms, Tie rods, wing supports, and wishbones. Oh and then the added bonus to reaplce the outer CV boot again on the driver side. I mean damn, I only got 2 years and 30K out of that sucker. Got everything from autohausaz and started the work friday morning(First day off I have had since opening up my new firm) and starting taking everything apart. Now for those looking to do this job, take the time to find that tool that applies pressure on the ball joint itself and not a pickle fork that wedges itself between the hub and ball joint. It will save you a lot of time and aggravation banging the crap out of the 3/4" aluminum rod. Also, if you do need to do the CV boot, using the 30 min procedure does save time, but when putting that inner shaft back in, jesus, it sucks trying to fit that boot on and tightening that clamp and holding onto the shaft. In any case, got everything done in 5 hours, bled the brake lines, and took her out for a spin and viola, she drives pin straight and not a shimmy or shake. Gotta love working on the X. Now if only my new company doesn't kill me first before the X does!!!
