All of my 4 right cylinders are misfirng?

I have a X5 4.4i 2001 with 115.xxx miles. It misfiers alot when cold sometimes when warm but mostly when I start it upp and am letting it run a litle before I start driving. I took it to my local bmw garage like allways and they did a diagnostic and they told me that it is misfirng on all 4 right cylinders. They dont know why this is and they told me to come back when the probleme was getting worse... any ideas why they are misfirng ?

I am not up to speed on the 4.4 yet but thinking logically, Is there a common earth or power supply to all of the coil packs? I would guess if all 4 are miss firing it would be something like that not being right.

I just had the same issue with my 4.8is. Took it in to the dealer this past Monday for misfiring when cold, and it turns out it's the eccentric shaft, the lobes on the shaft get worn with time, and when cold the metal shrinks and the lobes don't come in contact with the lifters. On my car once they heat up and the metal expands, it runs fine with no misfires.

The parts are on backorder for a couple of weeks, so i'll have to wait and see if that fixes the problem.

Ask your shop to do the eccentric shaft test on vehicle when cold.
