Remove the switch, check for sludge deposits. Clean, replace and retest.

If you have access to a source of pressure, apply pressure to the switch compatable with the engine oil pressure. Connect a multimeter or a battery and light bulb in series across the switch wiring terminations and confirm it operates correctly by applying and releasing pressure. Replace the switch if it doesnt function reliably.

Dear all,

I have X5 2001 from US. I have the same problem, when I start engine after 20 second then Warnning Light of oil pressure is on about 15 second and off. This problem is every time I start engine. I changed new Oil pressure sensor but still have the same problem. In my country, Cambodia don't have BMW service center.
If any one know how to fix this problem please help.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Locate and unplug the sensor, and look in the connector end of the plug and sensor. If there is any signs of oil the switch is internally bypassing and should be replaced asap before it pushed oil through the harness into the other end of that wire. (yes, I've seen it happen a few times)
