Do you have the metal or mesh one? I've got both so I can help.

For the metal one, loosen the top bolts holding the hooks before installing. Slide back the covers above the rear headrests on the roof that the grate will hook in to. Get the divider into the car. The side of the divider that had bolt holes on the bottom should face the front of the car. Be careful since it is almost the same width as the cabin so watch the edges so you don't scratch any trim or tinted windows. Hang the divider in the roof slots and tighten up the top mounting bolts. Slide closed the covers around the slots in the roof. Fold Down the rear seats to expose their latching posts. Slide the bottom supports over these posts and bolt them to the lower mounting points on the divider. Fold back the rear seats and make sure they close without rubbing. Everything should be set. I can take pictures of any points if you have any questions. This is the one I have in the car now.

If you have the mesh one it installs without any tools. There is a badge on it that states which way should face the rear of the vehicle. To put it in the forward position behind the front seats, fold down the rear seats. First slide back the mounting point covers above and behind the front seats. Hook the mesh divider posts into those points. Close the covers. Connect the bottom hooks into the three loops on the top-back of the folded down rear seats.
To put it into the position behind the rear seats, expose the rear roof mounting points and hang the divider in them. Roll up the bottom of the divider and velcro it up using the attached tie downs. Use the upper elastic hooks to connect the divider to the outside two loops on the back of the rear seats that you used in the forward mounting positions. That should do it.

Hope this helps.

-Carter

Any recommendations for which of the two is best? I need to get one. Will the metal one fit properly with the panoramic sun roof?

I was super lucky and scored a mesh one off ebay. One of the better accessories for this car. I recommend the mesh one b/c its more versatile b/c of the above said dual application. Plus it doesn't make a sound.

i looked at both and i picked up the mesh one off ebay too. Its good fitting and smart and as above doesnt rattle like the metal one. However it doesnt reach all the way across to the windows so if you have a small dog they will probably be able to jump through the gap.

Themetal one doesn't rattle if you install it correctly. I have had mine for 3 years- rattle free! You can also recline the seats to add pressure to stop any rattles
