4.8is Winter Wheels (Yes another)

Thinking of getting into a 4.8is and wanted ideas for Winter wheels / opinions.

I really do wish i could use my TSW "Heaven 7" wheels since they are great for snow and chains being 20x8.5 w/255's all around (yes 20's.. they work well)

Options: (1 & 3) are my most prefered.
1. Improbable, but i don't have TMPS and the 4.8is does so i probably can't reuse them, or i'll have a error when equiped huh?
2. Buy style 99 18x8 (not great but eh)
3. Buy M5 style 166 19x8.5 all around with 40ET (from umnitza, but do the fronts work on back and do they have TMPS?) (Spacers needed?)
4. Buy 132 19x8.5 (Same thing with m5 wheels)
5. Buy 63 19x9 (Same thing with m5)
~Question: are hub size is 72mm correct?

~Could i possibly run with my old wheels (non TMPS) and somehow not get an error, Because i mean really, they have the 4.8is wheel inspiration (to me) and i have not had any problems with them since i got them with the X in 05.

~Im just wanting to keep the tire size from 255 to 265 so the chains will still fit, i still remember i had a hard time finding the chains, wasn't too cheap either. Yup chains all around, it may not a regular thing, but it saved me a few times.

Thoughs?

so your E53 X5 4.8is must be the only US spec with TPMS sensors in the wheels then? i thought only Canada spec cars only came with the sensors. hmm.

Thing is i have no idea how the system works, so i dont know what controls the sensor or where it is located, but the odo. has the Wheel with "!" and the reset button on the control panel so i think it has TPMS. Not sure if it is in the wheel though?

i dont think thats the same as the new ones have.. mine has the same. it just monitors the tire pressure, not sure what you need to install on them..

Right now i have style 87s with pirelli ice and snows (did a square non staggered set up), they are the greatest in the snow. And look amazing. That is what i would recommend. Or like u have, use the TSWs with the pirellis for the winter. it'd be perfect. I would recommend doing some spacers though. I have 20mm on my car (without fender flares), so i would probably recommend 25 or 30mm

Edit, heres a picture, they get me thru the horrid ithaca winters. Trust me, you want these tires

Got an update from umnitza. They said the m5 wheels are tpms ready and do work with our X's and thanks to twinspapa for great pics of a non stag setup, ill probably go that way and use my current as a trade in upper when the time comes. (hopefully)

Side note: Recent storm brought alot of snow in SoCal and i got to use the chains all around once again.. unbeatable grip, even with ABS lights on D:

Just a thought what seems better? :

9.5 w/ 265 - all around or 8.5 w/ 255 - all around
Seeing as a normal 4.8is has 9.5 up front would running a stag 8.5 -255- (F) and 9.5 -265- (R) seem good?

265 around = decent stance but tight chain fit
255 around = odd stance and flush chain fit
8.5 x 9.5 stag = no clue.

Chains feel safer than winters to me, but for a new setup it will be decent winters + chains.

I am running 19x8.5" wheels with 265-50-19 Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow tires. They work very well and look pretty good on the car. I thought about 18's but they look a bit out of place with the "is" bodywork. I think running 20x8.5 all around with 265 or 275 is a good solution too. 255 might also work, but I felt 255 would not fit a 8.5" rim as well as a 265 does.

most conditions good winters are enough. chains are good to have, however. And I have a 4-5 hour nightmare story from this last weekend up in the sierras involving regular M+S tires, unplowed roads and 32deg temps, plus an MDX which is just a glorified FWD vehicle. We had chains but they didn't fit the tires well at all, so we had them fly off at least a dozen times. Not good. I was so unhappy that we didn't take my X5 with the real snow tires - it makes all the difference in the world in bad snow conditions.
