Go for it! Great deal only comes once. Good luck.

Fuel costs mainly, the X5 IS is popular here though, petrol E60's don't sell well at all, only the diesels sell well. A 525i as well specced as mine is worth at maximum now about £9300, its due to fuel being nearly £7 per gallon.

How easy would it be to sell an e53 with a huge gas fueled V8 getting 15mpg?

The e60 is a much newer vehicle and uses less petrol. We are about to see record prices for fuel again.....

I agree with the poster above, somebody wants to swap then there is a catch.

IS could be popular because it at least pulls hard. and diesels have more power then 2.5 engine and are more efficient.

Impossible to say without knowing its condition & history. There's plenty of people asking £12k for these but if you look on ebay for completed sales, the only ones actually selling are around £8k.

You didn't answer my original question - who suggested the swap ? I'm guessing you've advertised your car for sale and he's contacted you ? In which case asking you to make a six hour journey is taking the piss. He's effectively the buyer in the transaction, he should come to you. If he was a cash buyer would you make that journey to have a look at the money he was going to give you ????

Oh, and don't get taken in by the wheels and registration and lights being worth xx hundred pounds. They're not. If you like them then regard it as a bonus. If he reckons the reg is worth (say) £1k, tell him to keep it and give you £500 cash in the deal instead. His answer to that will tell you what it's really worth.

Basically, it all sounds a bit dodgy to me. Tread carefully.

I asked him if he'd be interested in a swap, all the ones I've seen have been going from around £10-12k, basically it has the genuine 21" Alpina Dynamic alloys with brand new Dunlop Tyres all round, which I'd sell separately and take some other wheels in part ex. The private plate would stay on the car. I'd be asking when I sell it, which'll be pretty much straight away about £10-10,500.

Ah, I got the wrong end of the stick. It's entirely up to you then, do you fancy a six hour drive to view a car ?

That's my biggest problem is the distance, put it this way, if he were closer the deal would've been already done.
