Airbag light is on...Which scan tool?

Well outta nowhere the light came on and now I have to get the code. My question is which code reader do I use? There are the Peake Reseach tools but it says it only goes up to 2003?

Does anyone know which tool to use so I can get this code off my 04 X5?

There are two different Peake Reseach tools. One is for OBD code scanner and another one is specifically for airbag reset. Not sure it supports only up to 03' but I wouldn't pay buy something that's only for airbag reset.

If you don't mind driving to NJ, I can help you to reset it. I have autoenginuity.

I have an 04 X5 also and the same problem. My light came on about 3 weeks ago. I looked at AutoEnginuity and had a little sticker shock. The scan tool is $249.95 and then you have to get the BMW specific software for an extra $229.95. After searching around I found Bavarian Technic for $287.

The Technic includes hardware where one side connects to the car and the other end connects to a PC to run the software. It is a good deal if you have access to a laptop or can move your computer to be near the car.

I don't think airbag light will reset by itself.
