In Afghan need help in VA- Richmond area.

Currently Deployed to Afghanistan and need help. Wife is home with the X5, 4.6IS in VA. The X5 was hite by a deer two days prior to deployment, Insurance had the body repaired according to wife now the engine sounds like someone scriming. Need to see if there is a better place then Richmond BMW to take it and see what's up. from the accident the air cleaner and MAF were broke. not sure if the engine was thrown out of line or what, could be belt issue. Asking for help.

Semper Fi.

May be a day before I can respond.

Semper Fi, John.

if the insurance is covering the repairs, I would suggest Sterling BMW - it is considerably far from Richmond (I live in Stafford, right next to Quantico) but I had my 530 and 528 worked on there. Since my 4.6iS is long out of warranty, I do not take it to the stealer - but have not found any local indy yet - once found, i'd let you know.

without actually hearing the noise, it hard even to speculate what it could be - vacuum leak could be hissing, belts could be out alignment screaching, water pump going bad, alternator... any moving part within the engine bay can create a noise and the repair people should have heard it and fixed right away... regardless of what it is, the insurance company probably has to be notified - John, did your wife talk to insurance about it?

What year and how many miles? If the engine is running fine and just making loud screaming noises it could just be one of the idler pulleys or belt tensioner pulley.

Just a thought.

Good luck and God Speed!

john1usmc, thank you! Have a coworker who's husband is there too, we're out here at Knox though. To you and TerminatorX5, I just moved from Fredericksburg, there were two shops out there that I had good experiences with, Prestige Motors and Shacklefords Garage. Visited Prestige more often but simply because it was closer to work, don't recall hourly rate of either but worth a call at the least. They both specialize in German. Best wishes

Worst than douche, worst than bad taste. Somthing like that should never be said to someone leaving home under orders. If I had the power, I would ban him from the site for such a statement.

Thank you for your service. We really owe you a lot! Maybe somebody in the area could take a look at the 4.6is?

have to agree with the others. that's a post in very bad taste. johnusmc signed on to do a job. a job that very few us are willing to do. i find it odd that you make a comment about fighting for oil but you drive a car that is not fuel efficient at all. perhaps you should be thanking him profusely.
