Question

No ERRORS ON BMW DEALERSHIP COMPUTER !! F_GREAT !!

what im going to do is borrow a injector off a friend who has a X5 and check all mine ,, also checkin the turbo windgate or what ever u call it ! to check if its stuck ( OPEN ) which would stop boost pressure of boulding up

BMW DEALER new injector 660 EURO per injector hahahah

Parking sensors 140 euro EACH !!!

GREAT PRICES EHY !

( THEY wouldnt even giv me diagnostics report on paper ! they said they wanted to keep car for another few housr after waiting 2n half hours for the Diagnostics report !!!

60euro for nothing ! great service

** keep the car and charge couple a hundred euro a hour for **** all **

anyone here had turbo windgate problem being stuck or a injector that was leaking instead of spraying !!

ie. anyone had to clean there injectors !!

That's exactly the same response I got... because the sensors didnt show any abnormalities, there is nothing wrong..

I was told to keep driving it until whatever the problem is fails...

I put a lot of injector cleaner through, no difference.

I think if you have a leaky injector, when you startup after the car has been standing for a while (like overnight) you get a lot of whitish smoke.. I am probably wrong though (powers1 would know) but I have done so much research and testing various things just to sort it out myself..

Angry

Re; ROB

I Dont think so rob - ill hav a look in the morning !

the car really isnt smokin like a normal big engine diesel should i think
even in a landcruiser or santa fe diesel when u accelerate hard a big volume of smoke should pop out ( right ! ?? ) usually did in my old diesels

ther is maybe a strange emmissons smell from exhaust but only noticable when parked in garage !
...
.
really pissing me off now big time !

( its not that noticable tbh if u didnt drive a normal x5 wit full power )
but when ur in a rush some where i feel lik getting out and hitting the thing with a sledge hammer lol !

going at the tubro side of it now saturday and gonna swap a injector !

Ok.. I have had my issue for about 4-5 months and am I pissed as the only real support I have got has been from Powers1 on the other side of the world.

If you can hear the turbo spinning up (should hear a small whine) then it should be OK.

I thought of injectors too, but I dont have anyone to swap one with

If I floor mine, I get a little bit of smoke, but nothing like diesel exhaust from trucks or earlie model diesels.

Looks like we do have the same problems though, same model, year, etc.

I have bought a diagnostic unit that I can monitor and record in real time Autel. Hopefully this will show some abnormalities while driving.

Also suggested to me was to check the intake swirl flaps (which I thought the later engines like ours didnt have) but I have been informed they have them, but are different to the earlier ones..

Hi Podge,
First ,I think its a disgrace the way you and Rob have been treated by the BMW dealers.they should at least have given you a print out of the diag test!

As Rob correctly said,if you had a leaking injector you would get a puff of white smoke as well as raw diesel smell, when you start it from cold.A permanent leaking injector would also throw out a error light on your dash and a code "fuel rail pressure negative".
You say you going to change an injector !Which one?

You 3.0D will never smoke like a landcruiser or Santa Fe,unless its over "mapped".

If you had turbo "wastegate" issue, again this would recorded by you N75 boost sensor and throw out a error light on the dash.
What you can do to check that ,you are not loosing any boost pressure,is check that all the small vac pipes and the pipes from turbo to intercooler are sealing.

The equipament that Rob bought is very useful not just for registering live data from sensors ,but also tells you what boost pressure you are doing and if its dropping at the mid-top end, which would indicate a boost leak.

Although you and Rob seem to have similar issues, however you both in different worlds!Rob has 30 degrees in Aussie and you have 10 max !Robs problem is just when the car warms up and he has stated that when temperature drops around 10 degrees,he has his power back! This can well be because of a faulty temp/boost sensor (but then why wasnt it picked up!) or perhaps his problem is only an intermittent one and not always there!

im gonna recored a video 2m of engine bay and rip off a few hoses

and see will ther be a difference

if no difference = bad boost pressure ( RIGHT ???

It just takes a small bad seal for you to loose boost pressure! If you rip all your hoses off,it will make even worst and you wont learn anything!

Best to check all individual vac tubes and hoses and the clips.
Or get someone with live data recording equipment to record the boost on test drive.

Red face

It probably would work .. Only you need a lot of ripping to access the injectors and you need another x5 parked up along side you.. Just took out my injectors today. And getting a guy to clean them to m.. It's dodgy enough taking them out as ther part plastic part metal ... I priced them off main dealer and there 660 euro EACH !!! And u must hand over your damaged one ......... My power is constantly down .. No lights or diagnostics show error.. No misfiring .. There is about 35\40% power missing ... Checked maf .fuel filter.air filter.wastegate.egr . Not in limp mode ... If u drive normal revs to reach any cretin speed --- it's exact same if u giv it full pedal to floor --- no difference at all .... Very annoying 0-60 in about 15seconds and should be 8 or 9 ..... I'm hoping it's just a leaking injector and not spraying properly ... If that fails I'm disconnecting the cat converter and checking will power increase ... Hopefully .. If so disconnect cat and clean out over night... But it should a came up on computer .... Just herd today there is a FILTER somewher near or behind turbo which is ment to be changed every 30 k !!!! I'm waiting for some1 to confirm ... Hope to see yer reply lads
