Talking New member, 4.8is, Coming from a 330i and 135i, Some questions on mods =)

Hey guys, I have had some bad luck with smaller cars so I decided to purchase the car of my dreams in 2006, a x5 4.8is. My first car was a brand new, built to order 06 e90 330i with m-tech, engine work, suspension work, really everything that you can do to it. (I will include some iphone pics while I hunt down better ones.) The e90 was totaled in 09' when a mini van swerved into the front pass side. Then I purchased a brand new, built to order 135i with lots of engine work, suspension work, lighting, really everything that you can do except for meth. It had 500hp and would do the 1/4 mile in 11.3. Fast ass little car. That car was totaled in November of 2010, when a camry ran a stop side and collided with the rear pass side and spun me up a curb into a brick building. Sooo, needless to say, I'm still here despite some major injuries, and I have decided to get into something bigger and less money of course .

So now the real questions, what are the "best" mods for a 06' 4.8is? Which are the best leb angel eyes? Also is there a bulb list on this website? Also, what is the deal with coding? Is it possible to make the truck stay in the lowered position? I would also like it not to beep when unlocking, I would prefer if I could do a corner delete to the front blinkers (even tho I have replaced them with blue/white bulbs).

I have been out of the x5 game since 05', so just feel free to give me ANY info you guys have. It will be greatly appreciated!! I hope that I am welcomed in this great community, I have been ghosting the forums for a few weeks now and it seems like a great community like e90post.com and 1addicts.com.

Thanks for ANY help!
Robert

Oh yes and about the x5. It only has 30k miles, M texture black/silver interior and has Le Mans Blue exterior. The only thing I don't like about it is the crome wheels but I am planning on powdercoating them black.

Hey welcome to the forums. this is out of topic but noticed your plate from says California beemers, just wondering if they sold bikes there too if not they should change it to bimmers lol.

But anyways Theres no really best mods but Lets see the few things you could do issssssssss....

Like you mentioned the Angel eye upgrades to white(amber, and blue avail if you really wana)

Angel Ibrights is one options (300) or
Mtech V2(120ish)
Not sure whats better but iv used the Mtech's and been a year now and its still running with no error codes.

Another thing i noticed is you dont have aluminum brushed running boards. You might like the look of it on your bimmer! so check it out.

Hmmm so thats 2, and if you wanna drop some cash try to find they Euro clear cornor head lights they look real clean on any x5!

Hope i helped thats all i could think of right now, and hopfully no one will hit your x5 itll be a sad day =[ but if they do its been known that the other car will explode on contact and well... you should walk away fine.

welcome. that is one gnarly rim ding in the 330 photo.
angel eye bulb upgrade is pricey but looks killer, angelibright.com, as far as the motor goes, don't think much is needed in that department. there are led's available for the license plate lights and interior but that is personal taste. others will chime in with helpful bits as well.

Thanks guys. Yea the m badge is already gone haha. I'm a firm believer in debadging. I went through 8 of the rep m5 wheels that I had on the e90, wayy to soft. And the manufacture tried telling me there were just as strong as the originals.. Yeah right haha.

What about doing some exhaust work? I want to make it a little louder.. Just cut the Resonator? Or something else? Maybe with the cats?

Papa, the exhaust can be made louder with a cross pipe and resonator delete. Lots of threads about that subject on this board.

Nice! Thank you! I'll grab those for sure. It's just strange I guess coming from the 3 series community where there is after market stuff for everything.

I think I am going to go with the m-tec led angel eyes. I used m-tec bulbs on both my 3 and 1 series and had no problems, so lets hope that they don't start now.

Would it be possible to retro fit a new M-tech steering wheel to the e53 x5? How much reprogramming would it take? Or would it even be possible?

I will post up pictures as soon as I get a few more things done. Thanks guys!!

Welcome to the 4.8is club.
Replace resonator with X-pipe and its loud enough. That's what I have on my 4.8is. There are several threads on that.
