Rattle in the headliner..??

Ok guys, heads up.
The sunroof cover, the one that slides backwards to let light thru the sunroof. my truck is developing this rattle then it is back. However, it may be where the light/motion sensor is, sometimes when i press on it, it goes away, as soon as i release it, it starts again.

ANy advise..?

Ceasar, does the rattle move to different places or is it always in the same spot?

hello Phil. Its always the same, i think the part with the lights, motion detertor, power-rear seats is too heavy, and maybe the back of it (cords, screws, who knows) touches the inside of the roof, i guess...

I'm having the same problem, it has got progressively worse until it just rattles all the time. The stearlership couldn't verify it on two separate visits. It used to stop when the sunroof cover was closed, now it does it all the time, open or shut. What could it be?

Had the same issue with my headliner. It would rattle and creak intermitantly but if I pressed up on it directly above my head the sound would stop. To fix the problem I wedged a 1/4 inch rubber washer between the grab handle base and the headliner (Yes I know very high tech). This apparently took any play out of it and snugged everything up. It's been almost three weeks of blissful silence........

I have never taken the grab handle off, so this might be a stupid suggestion, but can't you remove the handle and put a washer or something under it so the "fix" doesn't show?

You might have better luck than I did, but when I took the handle off and tried to use a couple of metal wahers between the screw head and the grab handle, I couldn't get enough resistance with stock screws and still be able to close the plastic flap to cover the screw heads. Plus with the grab handle up in it's normal position you can't see the washer at all. That being said, if you do figure out a way to hide the "fix" let me know.

It rattles more with the cover back (in the open positition), i have used a half-inch black rubber piece in the cover handle, and against the headliner, seems to work. OK, not not 100%. I personally think the center console is too heavy and the cords, or God knows what else inthere are touching/rubbing.
