Talking First BMW - 03 X5 3.0i

I have been doing a lot of reading and searching here before buying and since. I picked up a very clean 2003 3.0i with 98k on the clock. Black on black with premium package and the chrome 17" wheels which I have never seen before. I am wondering if they are original or came off a different model. I am really enjoying it so far but notice a few oddities that my research has not really shed any light on. No issues with it except the gauge cluster pixels.

1. Mine is an 03 but the manufacturing date is 09/03. An 09 month date is almost always designated as a following year model. Is BMW an exception?

2. Mine is the 3.0i with auto. I notice when I let off the gas there is a definite feeling of slowing down as if the brakes are slightly dragging or the engine is braking. This is far more pronounced than any other auto I have driven. Normal?

3. Did BMW incorporate some of the 2004 model updates early? For instance I read on here that the switches that move the rear seats back and forwards were located up front by the map lights on the ceiling but were moved to the rear by the tailgate for 04. As I mentioned, mine is an 03 but has the rearward switches.

4. Will the triangular clear side markers (07?) plug and play in place of the amber side markers on the 03? I have found clear ones like mine but do like the look of the triangular over the rectangle.

Like I said, I am really enjoying it so far and I am getting to know all of the features that make this such a great SAV. I am coming out of a Lexus RX300 and am surprised at how much this really feels like a significant upgrade rather than a lateral move.

I also wanted to thank all who have shared their knowledge and experiences on here. Forums like this are one the best parts of owning an enthusiast automobile.
