M62 Double temp switch FYI

I am sure plenty of you know this, but I found that it is possible to replace this without removing anything extra except for the plastic engine cover.

I did have to buy a set of crows feet wrenches since the bad sensor was a 22mm and the replacement was a 20mm. I also had to buy a 3/8 in. Drive T-Bar With Flexible Ratchet to use the crow foot since there were a few things in the way.

So 16.00 for the crowfeet wrenches, 16.00 for the tbar, and then another 11.00 for a 20mm crowfoot since the set did not come with that size.

I tried a deep socket but they were either not deep enough or too thick and would not go around part of the waterpump housing and therefore would not seat on the sensor bolt. The sensor is on top of the waterpump for the m62. Sucks for anyone having to do this on the m54 since it is at the back of the engine.

Sure I had to buy these tools to avoid removing all of the junk pelicanparts said to do, but it saved me lots of time and these tools will certainly come in handy in the future.

It is tight fit doing it this way, but just be patient and it is fine. Keep the cap on the ET and you will only lose about 1/2 to 1 cup of coolant when you remove the sensor.
