Question Alum Running Board Question

Beside the good looks of the alum. running boards, how is the functionality? can you step on these? How much weight can it support?

It is a fully functional running board and not just for looks. I use every time I wash the X5. I step on it to reach the middle part of the windshield and cleaning the roof.
