Rust Prevention Solution
First of all I want to say I love this forum! I've greatly benefited from it over the past year or so. Hope I can be of some help to other, like many of you have been to me. I am happy to finally join.
I have a 2001 4.4L X5 and just move to Michigan from North Carolina. The winter has begun to take its toll on the old girl. She's got a bit of rust starting on the back hatch. I really want to stop any current rust and try to prevent anymore from appearing. So I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on Eastwood's 2 Step Rust Solution. Total it would only be about $50 shipped. If it works it seems like it could save me a bit of money. I was hoping to order soon. Thoughts??? Step 1: Rust converter: this kills the rust I guess. Eastwood Rust Converter - Convert Rust in One Step Step 2: Rust encapsulator : this keeps the rust from coming back. Rust Encapsulator - Paint Over Rust - Stop Rust and Corrosion I've heard good things about Eastwood. I actually just ordered clear coat for my Style 5 wheels for the E39. I am refinishing them and don't want to have to keep polishing them every few weeks. This is what I got. Have not used it yet. Eastwood Diamond Clear Gloss for Bare Metal Quart I was also thinking about dropping the exhaust on the X5 and E39 and trying to seal all the under-body with something to keep rust away. Would it be worth it? I know the under-body already has a coating but thought another couldn't hurt. |
