Original or Not ?

I've always been one for keeping a car in its original factory state. Like for like replacements where necessary, never any upgrades or mods. But recently I've been so tempted by some of my fellow posters mods ... like angel eye front lights and LED rears.

What does anyone think ? Should we keep ourselves original or go for the mods ? I guess my fear is looking like trying to make the car something it's not.

My rule of thumb has always been that if BMW offered it, then it's acceptable. So that means (good) angel eyes and LED rears are OK. 30" chrome spinnaz are not

Me too, I like to keep it in original condition.

I have friends who like to personalize their ride with some custom modifications. Sometimes enhances the look...ok with me.

That would be like sticking a 4.8 on 3.0...

Keep it original

It all comes down to personal taste. I bought the angel eyes and LED tails, but now I am considering changing them back to OEM. I have decided that any future cosmetic upgrade for my X will only be accomplished with a BMW part number...

Now the electronics is a different animal... the factory stuff is just not up to par. Mind you, I still want to maintain the factory appearance, but with better performance. I have the factory Nav with DSP; I am wanting to upgrade the subwoofer to a JL stealthbox or BSW sub that fits in the factory location, lose the DSP and amp up the system with an Alpine PDX-5. Oh, and I want to add bluetooth too.... mediabridge anyone?

Angel eyes are ok for me too. Actually it looks good to me. No to non-bmw wheels and aftermarket NAV.(I'd rather stick to MID)
