Should I cut coils?

So I ordered the rear end links since ill be dropping my truck this week and removein roof rails. And it dawned on me as I was ordering things that maybe I should just cut a coil out of the front to drop the front as opposed to buyin those coils from eibach. Has anyone done this and can tell me what the ride is like. Even though the truck is nice its ten years old and time to be tricked out so am I being cheap and going to regret this moment I do it or is it a good idea to do first and see what I think before ordering the other ones? either way I'm going to drop it just a matter of witch way to go?

Dont ever cut coils. The spring rate changes drastically and affects ride in the same way.

If you're going to cut the coils, make sure you buy a spare second hand set first. This will avoid ending up with your car undrivable because you cut off too much and it is literally sitting on the ground.

Well that makes sense but then should I just buy the lowering coils. Ad dropped is what I want and I'm not going to cut much just one coil. Aside from it being low Witch is what i want what are the downsides on the ride? And one coil should be low enough I think

It depends on the type of spring (i.e. progressive or non-progressive) and where the cut is made. Typically, it is safe to cut coils as long as you remove 1/2 a coil section at a time. You do not want to cut progressive springs though. That will alter the spring rate.

Lol that's what I'm thinking in my mind secretly lol like really am I about to do this but tom says he has a set so if I mess up ill just buy them from him and leave it alone

If the stock springs have dead coils, go for it. If it doesn't, don't do it.
