Another Spacer Question Thread
Before I get crucified here; Yes I did a number of searches and found a lot of useful information, thank you, but.... I am going with 20mm in the rear-only, they come in both DRA and DR. The DR series mounts onto the hub with longer bolts that go through the wheel and into the hub. The DRA spacers are mounted to the hub with bolts (they provide the bolts), then your OEM bolts go through your wheel into the actual spacer (no contact b/w wheel and hub). It seems to me that the DR series would offer a more stable setup as the actual wheel is still mounted to the hub, whereas the DRA series uses the spacer as an adaptor that the wheel would then be mounted to. My questions are: - Those of you with spacers, what setup are you running? - Has anyone done any research on which one is ‘better’? - I’ve owned an E46 M3, B7 Audi S4 and 996 Porsche 911C4s, in all cases - I’ve used a ‘DR-like’ H&R setup, but it seems the DRA route is more popular on X5s. Is that for a specific technical reason? -As a side note I’ve read that it’s ‘ok’ to have spacers in the rear only with my 177 and lowered suspension, but has anyone heard otherwise? -Also does anyone know the exact measurement of the stock wheel lug nuts (Shank or total)? Cost comparisons are nominal… Thanks in advance for any response/feedback. Opinions welcome! |

I have 20mm in the rear with my Style177's... bought longer bolts. Simple!

I'm going with 30mm, I did a lot of searching on the forum, looks like there was some confusion about which style you would get when ordering the H&R spacers. I don't think it matters which style I get, both companies Eibach and H&R are reputable places, so studs or the ones without studs are fine to me.
Hey AlecX5, why did you use longer bolts? Everything I've seen in my two days of reading about this and visiting the manufacturers websites shows that if you have the spacers without studs you reuse your old bolts. Your not actually bolting the wheel to hub on the truck, you're bolting it to the new threaded holes in the spacer.
