yes really, another mirror question.

So I have read through multiple posts about the side view mirrors. Here is my question.

I feel like my mirror will move with 'the wind' of driving. Like it won't lock in place. Is this the infamous dowel problem? Sometimes if I fold the mirrors they will unfold, then I press it again and they fold and stay. So I am assuming that it is a microswitch or...

Since the dowel is damaged it already is in the wrong position so when it folds and unfolds it is set in the right position for it to fold properly.

Any opinions?
