Possible To Fix OEM Angel Eye / Halo outage

Hi All,

i have a 2005 X5 3.0i. I have the oem bixenon headlamps and am quite familiar with the physical and electronic side of mounting them and wiring them. I have never gone really inside the sealed light though.

I got a warning the other day about "check side lights" and I got out and walked around the car and saw my passenger halo lights were not on.

So I was wondering is there a way to fix this or replace a bulb or something. Also does anyone have any troubleshooting tips. I was going to mess with it over the weekend...like try to swap the head lights(side to side) and make sure the halos really dead and theres not another problem...and possibly wire halos directly to 12V and see if they still don't come on.

I will check all the obvious. I guess worse case I am going to replace the entire headlight assembly with another one off ebay. Any other suggestions? I was thinking if the latter is my best option I may wait to pull everything apart till I can find and obtain the new part.

Thanks for any help / direction. Robert.

your angel eye bulb is out. I think there a link in the how-to's or tips and tricks to replace the bulb. I had to do it once already.

I was under the impression that it was not as simple as a bulb change out?? I thought it was some crazy special thing? Not true? Link to tutorial? I won't see the car till the end of the week so I can't look actually at it.

Thanks!

Just a bulb. Do a search on "check side lights". Sorry I can't post the link, writing from my iPhone right now..

It's very simple and takes less than 5 minutes. I do recommend buying new LED ones, updates the look

Looking at the engine bay there's a hatch at the back of the light housing. Opening the hatch you should see two bulbs with connectors. Angel Eye bulb is the lower of the two.
