Climate Control - fans need replacing

Hi there

I have a X5 2002 4.4i and I'm no longer getting cool air or heat through my vents. Sometimes the air-con works and most of the time it doesn't. In in really hot weather nothing works.

Has anyone replaced the fans and climate system?
I'd really like to do it myself to safe on paying someone else and I have heard its a big job as most of the time is spent taking the dash off so you can get to the fans and other components.

Please could someone point me to a step by step how to if there is one (which I hope there is)

Many thanks
Rory
