Google the "e-light module". Adds some fun and solved my daylight running light wishes.

hey thats nifty! $229 sounds expensive but if you have to bring the car to the stealer you'd pay $100~$150 to re-program anyway

are there other cheaper sources?

Why would you shut off the DRL's?
This is one of the smartest safety items ever, personally I think they didn't go far enough, ALL lights should go on
How many cars have you seen where have people for forgotten to put the lights on at dusk?
Don't you think that any way to make a car more visible to other drivers is worth it.

I shut them off in attempt to only have my AEs on> I agree morons that drive with there lights off or forget at dusk..worst case night is very dangerous>>>>But regardless that my drls are off as soon as the light level is low>>BMWS automatically turn on the low beams anyway

Hi z168,

http://www.car-solution.de/en/BMW-X5...5-E53-SAV.html <- € 119.- plus shipping. You are right it is not cheap but it adds a lot of fun to your X - if you want that.

and other features - depending on the model you buy.

All the best.

It's not all about BMW's "WE" have auto lights on, nd "WE" would never forget, but the DRL should be for all cars...it evidently is not..(here in the US)
