RE: Key

The built in battery may not be charged up if you have not used the keys in awhile. Go for a long drive and see if it charges back up.
Check to make sure that your gas cap door is fully seating and that the power lock on the gas cap door is working. If not, that will cause the central locking system not too work via the remote.
Both of my keys don't charge up anymore and that was the first thing that the dealer checked. Then tried to recode it, in the ignition and that did't work either. The dealer (Stealer!) quoted me $225.00 per key for new ones. I've learned to live with unlocking the car the old fashioned way.
If the batteries are in fact dead, check the "How to" forum on how to replace the battery. I'm going to try it myself.

Bobby, this is the problem that I have. Do you know of a fix?
Thanks

If it is your gas cap door, I'm sorry I don't know how to fix that. Put out a posting. I'm sure someone here has an answer or can steer you towards one.
You can always go to the dealer, but I'm sure its not a cheap fix, like everything else at the dealer.

If the door locks can not be operated from the central locking button or the key fob (but the key in the door works and trunk release works from the fob) and the interior lights don't come on when the door is opened then the problem is the general module or GM3. Search for "BMW GM3 door lock interior light repair" on google.
