X5 Brake Dust

2005 X5 3.0 here... I'm having a lot of issues with brake dust. The wheels are almost always dirty. I know BMWs are notorious for excessive brake dust but I was wondering if the type of wheel also made a difference? If the wheel has wider supports, would there be less dust getting out and more depositing within the wheel itself?

The only effect the wheel design has is in how easy or hard it is to clean. Only real solution is low-dust pads.

You could try Armor All Wheel Protectant too. It's a small spray can. It doesnt solve the dust problem but if you wax the wheels and spray this on top of the wax, they tend to 1. not collect as much dust and 2. be easier to clean when they do get dirty.

Like JCL said, the only solution is low dust pads, I just replaced the stock rotors on my 4.6is with drilled/slotted rotors front and rear. They came with I believe C-Tec brake pads, now I don't have the dust problem anymore.
