This is exactly the distinction between my 3.0 and the 4.8. I beat the piss out of that 3.0 to Home Depot and back while I built a house. Everything from 8ft lead pipes that hung out the front passenger window to a full set of laundry room cabinets filled the thing. I'm surprised I never loaded the rear with raw mulch. But I followed old school maintenance to an obsession and she just kept asking what we'd do at the start of every weekend. The black interior still looks great at 100K.

My 4.8is with it's alabaster leather got nervous at our first Depot outing. Luckily we were just getting parts to repair some patio umbrellas. She's just too fresh with 15K miles. OTOH, my 3 friends found ourselves with the huge sunroof open, 70's on 7 blasting, and calculated off ramp precision as we ran through the cool night air while our wives awaited take out Mexican at home. Sometimes a little sexy is worth a little work.

[QUOTE=cfmistry;831891]I'm sad I will miss your X... youre style was pretty unique. But after my service advisor called me today and said I needed a $2000 valve cover gasket replacement.... I see what you're doing and it's a smart move.

That is to much money. i paid $1600 from my indy and it includes:
valve cover with spark plug gaskets (it is a set not a extra)
new spark plugs
valley pan gaskets
cooling pipe (pipe above valley pan)
oil separator and all needed gaskets and tubes
oil change
oil pressure switch
coolant flush
and small miscellaneous parts

So keep that in mind as some techs are just THIEVES>>>>>

congrats on the new ride. I'm doing the same thing, although not for a toaster.

I ordered a 2012 Chevy Sonic with the 1.4 turbo and 6 speed manual transmission a couple weeks ago. Its suppose to be here the end of aug.

I just replaced mine for $28. original BMW gasket made in Hungry in April of this year. I don't have the V8 but for $2G, I would do do that one myself too. I do have an E class Merc that I will do myself as well. I will surely take even more time doing it though. The stealers want over a grand for that one.
