Driver's heated seat

Hey guys, got a dumb question to ask you all?
I noticed my driver’s seat getting fairly hot yesterday. The seat warmer
was in the off position, but the seat still felt kinda hot under my butt….lol
I was driving for awhile with the a/c on and the truck was cool inside, for the exception of my seat.
Has there been any instances with seat warmers malfunctioning and heating
up on their own? Or is it just that I have a hott a$$.... lol…..

Seriously, I want to deal with this now before I have a potential fire?

Yes. Many cases of shorted heater wires leading to "burn through". A search should yield many results. Get it checked out fast (or at least pull the fuse)!

Go to local dealer and ask them nicely to replace it at no cost. Common problem

Doesn't hurt to ask, but the chances of getting a free seat for a ten year old vehicle are very low.

The reported problems with seat heater elements have generally been that they develop a short in the pad and get too hot in a very localized area, not that they come on without the switch being turned on.
