Indie shop wants $1,317 for all 4 o2 Sensors??!!!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

As the title says I got a online quote on replacing all 4 of my o2 sensors. HE came back with the number of $1,317 parts & Labor!

How is that possible? Said each sensor was $271 each! LAbor was $273...

Think he is talking about something else? Im confused

There are specialty tools to make removing them much easier ... You could rent them from auto zone for like $50...

I replaced 2 sensors on one side myself, no special tools used except some PB Blaster to loosen it. Parts were less than 200 with tax for the one side, so it would have been $400 for both sides using OE Bosch direct replacement. You could do it yourself in probably under 2 hours easily, if you prepped them already with the PB Blaster a few days prior.

that is way overpriced for the labor. I changed the pre-cat sensors on mine and it was pretty easy. I just got a $3 O2 sensor bit and a ratchet with an extension. It's as easy as changing the spark plugs. The hardest part for the post-cat sensors is running the cables back to the engine but that's about it. I've also changed the ones on my E46 and it it was for the most part the same as on the E53. Just make sure that you use the correct sensors and not the ones you cut and splice to fit the connector.

you don't need to change the post cut , the important ones are the pre-cut . amazon has them for cheap .it took me 30mns to change them both .got them from amazon for $85 each .
good luck
