Transmission Inspection Port -- Missing Cover?
I happened to be under our X5 the other day, and noticed a large (maybe 2-3" x 1") inspection port in the bottom of the transmission bell housing area (just behind where it attaches to the engine block). It seems to me like this should have some type of cover to keep the elements out, but I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone knows. I have attached three photos below. It is clear that there is corrosion of the interior parts already..
