Suspension bushings etc

Forgive me if this has been posted... the search feature just frustrated me.

What are the suspension parts that wear out? And need replacing after awhile? I have 138,000 mile and am hearing a clunk coming from underneath.

If I went to my indie mechanic how much would I pay, ball park, for these repairs?

I have middling mechanical skills, just jacks--No lift, can I do it myself?

It's the thrust rod bushing, BMW calls it a Tension Strut, it's part number 7, it fits inside part number 6 in the diagram.

RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.6is Frnt axle support,wishbone/tension strut

did you mean its part 7 and it fits inside part 6?

You can get that part in Poly right?
