AC Vapor From Hood
Vapor shot out of my hood this morning. Then next thing I know, the AC is not working. Anyone have this happen? Thanks.

It could be the AUX fan went out, when it goes out and you're at a higher RPM the high side pressure can spike up high enough to blow out of the overpressure valve on the compressor. If the AUX fan is still working properly then you most likely had something blow out... you could get it checked at a shop or try getting to the bottom of it yourself. If you wanted to cheaply diagnose it yourself just get a cheap charge can of R134a at the parts store and throw it in there, for the sake of seeing where it is shooting out. That's the cheap way out without paying for shop diagnosis, since it should be wither a failed component or major leak it should be easy enough to find.

Story goes... One morning me and the famly went for breakfast. Noticed that there was smoke coming from the kidney grills after I parked. It was actually pouring out that morning and I was only able to run a quick visual and didn't see anything cause of the difficulty with the rain. I thought maybe rain touched something in the engine compartment that was hot and steamed. Anyway, made my drive to NJ (1 hour) and my windows were fogged for the drive but again figured it was just from the rain/humidity. Later on that same day, we proceeded the drive home. No cold air coming out of the vents and then about 30-40 mins later, temp gauge jumped hot then bam!!... expansion tank blew. It had a crack and I guess the pressure finally burst it. Could the steam from the morning be related to the expansion tank? It could. Possibly the small crack in the expansion tank let out some pressured steam?
