CEL light is on.

My 2000 4.4i has the check engine light on. Was coming from a 300Km trip and was felling the engine weird from 4000rpm up in 5th gear. When I stop the car the CEL went on. Thought it could be bad gas and fill the deposit. The engine felt better but again after 4000rpm in 5gear the engine is failing like if the fuel pump is not giving enough fuel to the engine. At low rev the engine works perfectly only at high revs the power cut is felt.

I´m in Africa and there´s no BMW dealer next by, any ideas might be causing this power cuts at high revs? Thanks in advance.
