Easy 12 volt access

Hey everyone. I am installing a radar detector in my 2000 X5. I purchased a cord that splices( UGH, I hate that word!) into a 12 volt source. Is there a 12 volt wire that is easy to get to? I want to use the 12 volt source so that when the key is on, so is the radar detector. The radar is a Passport X50. I really do not want to use the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter. Thanks in advance.

Dave

Did you check out these instructions for the V1? Maybe they could be used for your X50.

EDIT: There are some comments in there from a Passport 8500 installation.

Sorry but I don't run a radar detector so no personal experience.

I should have done a search. I apologize for the redundancy.
