X5 E53 Steering wheel trim

Hi guys! I need some help please. I have a 2006 E53 X5 with sports package and sport steering wheel. I'm having a hard time removing the steering wheel trim! I found some thread on here showing me how it's done and saying using a Torx 20 and I bought a whole set trying different sizes and I still can't remove the screws on the back of the steering wheel! I can move the airbag with no problems. Any advice on that would be much appreciate it!! thank you all!!

I thought I'd bump this since I bought the new trim piece and I too would like to confirm how to replace it before I go klunkin' around. Thanks in advance if anybody could help.

I managed to remove it finally but it gave me such a hard time to get the angle right. Also I used different torx sizes so I'm not even sure myself what size it was. It turned out that I have five screws on my back of the steering wheel 2006 with sports package. For the first three screws (lower and sides) I used torx 20 with no problems, but the last inner ones which are closer to the airbag I can't figure out whether it was torx 15 or 13 that got em undone. I think you better ask someone else to know for sure

Your welcome buddy! I'm getting my trim painted in titanium silver to match my other interior titanium trim. I'm picking it up tomorrow I'm just hoping I'm gonna be able to screw those screws back in!! I'll keep you updated if you like

You got it!! But the problem is I don't know how to upload pictures on Xoutpost... If you wanna give me your email I'll email a picture. I've done a lot of modifications on my X5, I have full BMW aero kit and bars and DVD system and many more and I still feel I'm not done with it yet. My X5 it's my baby!!
