A hose to no where

The coolant expansion tank in my 2005 X5 4.4L cracked and lost some coolant. I suspect faulty cap ( over pressure). I ordered new tank and cap.
While taking the tank out I notice an open ended hose between the engine and the radiator. I had never noticed it there before and I can't figure out where it hooks up too...
See pics.
Any idea?...

I just bought my 4.8 and couldn't figure that out hose as well. Thanks

Thank you Digg..
You put my mind at ease. It must have been tucked under the engine cover before otherwise I would have seen it.

Hard to search for a thread on a given topic when you don't know what the thing you're searching for is called

I understand, but without even being the one with the problem I searched "hose" and came up with 2 of the three this week in the first 10 listed. If I were the one with the problem I would try different terms and phrases (missing hose, tube, etc.), which also yields returns. Could also "advanced search" e53 thread only and narrow down returns even more. I have had questions and encourage those with them to ask, but usually the ones who have tried will lead with "Tried searching, but couldn't find anything" or something to that effect.
